Over the years more & more information has come in to the public domain showing how the little things we all do day-to-day can make a huge impact on our planet and its future - the things we will leave for good and bad for our children to enjoy or conversely to bear the burden of.
At the Horizon Hotel we have tried to make the daily running of the hotel as "green" as possible. When we source products we ask for the supplier's environmental policy and check that the products (such as chemicals for cleaning) have the least negative impact as possible. We source our food produce from local suppliers thus supporting the economy, and giving you the best Ayrshire and Scotland has to offer. With the added benefit that it has only travelled a few miles, its fresher and our carbon footprint is reduced. Our aim is to increase safety, lower the use of water and energy and reduce chemical waste released into the environment.
Over the years the hotel has invested heavily in green equipment to allow us to help you save water, electricity and recycle as much as possible. Paper, plastic, cans and glass are all recycled. In our bedrooms we have installed an energy saver key card system, when you exit the room (taking the key) the power to the room is switched off. With your help we reduce the use of water when flushing, as all our toilets are equipped with full and half flush buttons.
